Why Another Boarding School in Bolivia?

Why start yet another boarding school and children’s home in Bolivia?

Each year hundreds of students are turned away from the two existing mission schools near Guayaramerín and Rurrenabaque due to insufficient space and lack of personnel in each school.

As former and current staff of the Guayaramerín and Rurrenaque schools, our experience has proven that an average of 75% – 80% of the students enrolled in these two schools have suffered physical, psychological, and/or sexual abuse in their homes.  This means that 75% – 80% of the children we have been unable to accommodate are left in abusive situations.  This breaks our hearts and has led us to seek a sustainable solution to this overwhelming problem.

We have already received phone calls from social services and private individuals with requests to accommodate children at Eben-Ezer and we haven’t even broken ground yet!  Our goal is to open our doors to receive students and children in February of 2019. This is a very ambitious goal and, from a human perspective, seems impossible.  However, we are told in Christ’s Object Lessons that, “it is not the capabilities you now possess or ever will have that will give you success. It is that which the Lord can do for you. We need to have far less confidence in what man can do and far more confidence in what God can do for every believing soul. He longs to have you reach after Him by faith.  He longs to have you expect great things from Him.” (COL 146.4)

“When with earnestness and intensity we breathe a prayer in the name of Christ, there is in that very intensity a pledge from God that He is about to answer our prayer ‘exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.’ Ephesians 3:20.” (COL 147.3)

Eben-Ezer means, “hitherto hath the Lord helped us” (1 Samuel 7:12).  We have seen time after time how God has worked on our behalf, moving mountains and making the crooked way straight.  We have no doubt that He will continue to do so as we seek to aid more children in Bolivia and introduce them to a Savior that loves them unconditionally and can heal their wounded hearts.
